May 5

Lac Bay, Bonaire
22      5.1 Race    8'4" SVF

Fully powered. Met neighbors of Berts - the Ujoint broke while she was sailing between the sand bar and the mangroves. Wind blew the board into the mangroves. She had to swim the sail back to the beach.

Lac Bay, Bonaire
25     4.0 Cam 1   Hi-Tech 8'3" DIMP

Started out with the 4.6 Cam 1+1 sail. Made one very overpowered run and re-rigged to the 4.0 Cam 1. Was close to overpowered even on this sail. Sailed for almost 2 hours. Was able to get upwind from the launch and sailed for a while in the rental area because I didn't trust that the wind would stay strong. After a while made the 'downwind' run across the bay and back to the car - an exhilerating run. Board/rig handled nicely but would VERY quickly fall off a plane if I hit a wind hole which happened at the end of the session. Flipping the sail on jibes was incredibly easy...

May 1

Lac Bay, Bonaire
20-21    5.6 Race  8'4" SVF

Nicely powered. Made five duck jibes on starboard tack (out of 7-8 attempts). Not necessarily pretty, but sailed away… Sailed for about 2.5 hours pretty much non-stop. Sailed up to the 'rental area' but stayed up-wind - not too bad there as far as random board wake chop is concerned. Had a nice down-wind/speed run from rental area back to car. Kuma actually waved at me as we sailed past each other! Met Bert - Dutch guy that lives part time on Bonaire (contractor). He sails a 90 liter Fanatic Slalom board with a very racked back 'weed fin'. He looks pretty fast.
